A Visual Anatomy of a Website ...using Bricks
To help make the web design process more fun, here are some commonly used web design terms to think about while designing or coding your next site.
Skeleton
Boo! Don't be scared. Think of the framework or main structure of a web site as a skeleton: head(er) at the top, foot(er) at bottom.
Let's Brainstorm
I never sketch my lego designs, I just build. But when it comes to web design, one helpful approach is to sketch your ideas on paper first to solve problems quickly.
Prototyping
Another approach in web design is to build it early and test it out as you design. Interactive wireframes can be effective visual guides to help define your site's structure and test the user experience (UX).
Chain of command
Heirarchy is important when it comes to web designing. Like typography, large bold followed by regular type makes it easier to read.
Feeling Lost?
The nav is helps you navigate your site.
Connection
A highlight link linking to a document to same or a different document.
Inspection
Looking for something? Use the search button.
blueprint
Mapping out your website helps you see the visual elements of what your site looks like.
Framework
The framework of your content must be placed within columns and columns may be aligned with rows.
